Job Description
As a Transport Shift Manager, you will manage the day to day running of the Transport operation, together with motivating and managing a large team of direct reports (including Transport Operators, Drivers & Shunters).
Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00
Salary: Β£42,129 per annum
Key Duties of aTransport Shift Manager:
- Ensure all aspects of Transport legal compliance and Health & Safety are maintained and that deliveries are made on time and at the right standard.
- Operate within budget/KPI levels of the site and strive to exceed these expectations.
- Manage and investigate all delivery issues, communicating effectively to both internal and external clients as required.
- Involvement in the recruitment and training of new starters β operations staff and drivers.
- Maintain regular reviews and develop Personal Development Plans for all team members to maximise their contributions to the department.
- Conduct safety conversations with all colleagues to engage and raise awareness of Health & Safety.
- Review and conduct risk assessments of the site, delivery points and collection points and complete regular work place inspections.
- Ensure full adherence to all statutory and legal requirements.
- Manage the teamβs performance in line with Drivers Hours, WTD and MPG KPIβs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience within a similar transport management position in FMCG environment.
- Ability to motivate, lead and manage a team.
- Significant knowledge and experience of tachographs, driving rules and regulations.
- Ability to effectively prioritise workloads in order to meet set deadlines.
- Have a professional and approachable character to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
- Be customer service driven with strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence and steer.
- Good IT skills including MS Office with a high level of numeracy and a keen eye for detail.
