Overview

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a Compliance Specialist, focusing on sanctions and financial crime. This role is crucial for ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations, with a particular focus on advising our newly acquired Marine business, WK Webster.

As Gallagher Bassett continues to expand throughout EMEA, this position will play a key role in integrating future acquisitions and scaling the Compliance team and there will be opportunities to progress.

How you\’ll make an impact

  • Sanctions Compliance:

    • Manage and implement sanctions procedures and screening processes, ensuring alignment with current regulations and effective risk mitigation.
    • Conduct audits and reviews of business activities to identify potential sanctions violations, providing expert advice on screening results.
    • Serve as the key compliance contact for our Marine business, collaborating with the global Gallagher Sanctions team to ensure consistent compliance efforts.
  • Financial Crime Prevention:

    • Oversee financial crime aspects of the compliance framework, including money laundering, fraud, and bribery, developing robust policies and procedures.
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies, while investigating and reporting suspicious activities.
    • Provide guidance and training to employees on financial crime prevention strategies, improving awareness and adherence to best practices.
  • General Compliance Matters:

    • Co-manage the compliance mailbox, ensuring timely and accurate responses to queries, and developing a knowledge base for streamlined handling.
    • Triage and prioritise compliance queries to ensure efficient resolution
    • Assist with complaints and data-related matters during team members’ leave, ensuring continuity of service and seamless operations.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):

    • Assist with compliance-related due diligence for acquisition targets, ensuring thorough evaluation and integration of compliance frameworks.
    • Integrate new acquisitions from a compliance perspective, addressing unique business types and jurisdictional requirements.
    • Expand compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures to accommodate new acquisitions, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to regulations.
  • Other Responsibilities:

    • Prepare regular reports on compliance activities, including detailed analyses of sanctions and financial crime prevention efforts.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance processes, investigations, and outcomes, ensuring records are accurate and accessible.
    • Perform additional duties as required by Gallagher Bassett, contributing to the success and growth of the team.

About you

  • Extensive experience in compliance, with a focus on sanctions and financial crime prevention, and a strong understanding of global regulations and laws.
  • Preferred experience in the Marine insurance market, demonstrating excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with proficiency in compliance management software and tools.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
