MEP BIM/CAD Coordinator Role Overview This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our clients business as the first MEP BIM/CAD Coordinator. As this is a new role within the company, they are seeking a skilled professional who will bring their expertise to help develop their in-house BIM/CAD capabilities. The role will focus on managing projects from Stage 3/4/5 design development through to handover to the site project team at the commencement of on-site works, as well as record drawings. Reporting directly to the Pre-Construction and Design Director, this position requires a proactive and innovative approach to elevate pre-construction practices, reflecting our commitment to delivering excellence and driving innovation. Key Roles and Responsibilities BIM Coordination * Manage and maintain Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards across all pre-construction projects. * Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) in collaboration with the design team. * Ensure BIM models are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with project requirements and industry standards. * Coordinate multidisciplinary BIM activities to ensure seamless integration of architectural, structural, and MEP models. BIM Collaboration and Integration * Liaise with external design consultants and subcontractors to ensure BIM deliverables align with project specifications. * Facilitate coordination meetings to address clashes, design discrepancies, and model integration issues. * Work closely with the design and pre-construction teams to ensure BIM processes enhance project efficiency. CAD Coordination * Manage and maintain CAD standards across all pre-construction projects. * Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and quality standards. * Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid works or Revit to execute 2D drawing design. * Coordinate multidisciplinary CAD activities to ensure seamless integration of architectural, structural, and MEP models. Model Audits and Quality Control * Conduct regular audits of BIM models to ensure data integrity and adherence to established standards. * Identify and resolve issues within models, raising RFIs as needed for clarification or corrections. * Provide feedback to the design team to improve modelling practices and reduce errors. Documentation and Reporting * Prepare and issue BIM-related reports, including clash detection summaries and model progress updates. * Maintain accurate documentation of CAD/BIM processes, updates, and modifications for each project. * Support the preparation of pre-construction handover packages with BIM deliverables. Training and Support * Provide training and guidance to team members on CAD/BIM software and standards. * Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related queries and support needs. * Stay updated on industry developments in BIM technology and integrate relevant advancements into the team\’s workflow. Software Management * Oversee the use of CAD/BIM software, ensuring licences are up-to-date and team members are equipped with the necessary tools. * Recommend software updates and new tools to enhance modelling and coordination capabilities. Compliance and Standards * Ensure all CAD/BIM activities comply with project-specific and industry-wide standards, including ISO 19650. * Collaborate with the project team to develop and maintain a consistent approach to BIM implementation across all projects. Key Competencies – Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of CAD/BIM software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and related tools. – Coordination Skills: Strong ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure seamless model integration. – Attention to Detail: High standard of accuracy in model audits, clash detection, and reporting. – Problem Solving: Ability to proactively identify and resolve modelling issues. – Training and Support: Skilled in guiding team members and promoting best practices in BIM usage. – Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
