Sound & Light Technician Assistant (Shipboard)

Description
Essential Duties
- Assists in overseeing the technical and operational quality of all sound and light needs onboard, contributing to creating positive and memorable experiences for guests
- Helps with the appropriate setup of sound and light for daily live entertainment, local entertainment events, lectures, meeting spaces, Ritz Kids activities, and background music
- Assists in the purchasing request of materials related to the Entertainment and Enrichment Department, specifically sound and light OS&E, and consumables replenishment.
- Participates in regular technical checks, preventative maintenance, and ensures that sound and light equipment spaces are clean and organized, maintaining a safe working environment
- Supports in executing physical inventories and inventory spot checks as per the inventory schedule. Helps minimize inventory levels while ensuring sufficient stock levels to operate smoothly and works towards minimizing waste, breakage, and wear and tear
- Assists in creating and monitoring maintenance requests for non-functional equipment, addressing issues affecting the Entertainment operation, and ensuring timely resolutions. Escalates delays to the supervisor as needed
- Acts as a liaison for guest sound, light, and AV technical requests, coordinating with the Sound and Light Technician to meet guest needs.
Qualifications
- Valid Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract, appropriate to the position.
- Basic knowledge in operating, programming, and maintaining professional sound and light equipment for live entertainment venues, including digital and analog audio consoles. Ability to assist in identifying technical problems and suggesting effective solutions
- Familiarity with industry rules and regulations, terminology, and best practices in lighting and audio techniques.
- Basic networking and computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and OSX operating systems as well as sound and light specific applications.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), OSX (Keynote, Pages), and Adobe (Acrobat Reader, Photoshop).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
