DEPARTMENT: BBC Radio Jersey

LOCATION: JERSEY (Office based) – you must be ordinarily resident in Jersey and \”entitled\” to work in the island. More information at www.gov.je

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,800 – £27,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. You will also receive an annual Channel Island allowance of £5,319.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Journalism coordinator, you\’ll play a key role in producing our weekday breakfast show. Working alongside the presenter and Senior Content Producer, you\’ll provide technical support, coordinate guests, and help deliver creative excellence that connects with island audiences. You will work 05:00-13:00, Monday to Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Provide technical support to output the programme
  • Assist with the booking of guests and contributors
  • Provide editorial help and record interviews and features
  • Develop programme strands and ideas
  • Play an active role in the wider audio team

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria:

  • This is not a role for a beginner – you should have a working knowledge of BBC Radio Jersey and how we serve the island.
  • An understanding of the audience we serve is desired, along with an ability to quickly develop a range of technical skills.
  • You\’ll be comfortable with an early start, with the shift running Monday-Friday from 5am.
  • Good local knowledge of Jersey, an appreciation of the programmes we produce, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
