Psychology or Criminology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a psychology or criminology graduate interested in working with children with behavioural and mental health needs? We are currently recruiting for a number of schools seeking confident and proactive graduates with a good understanding of child mental health to work as teaching assistants.

As a specialist teaching assistant, you will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis during the school day. Pupils will be aged 5-11 years old and may have identified behaviour, SEMH, SEN, including ASD needs, requiring full-time support. Your role will involve working with pupils in the classroom, during specialist mentoring sessions, and sometimes during break times. Some pupils may display challenging behaviour, and the school can provide training in suitable interventions and approaches. You will collaborate closely with the school\’s SENCO, senior management team, and outside agencies including therapists, healthcare professionals, and CAMHS.

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be a Psychology or Criminology graduate
  • Have experience in CAMHS or child mental health services
  • Be passionate about supporting children with SEND/SEMH needs
