About the Role
We now have an opportunity for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide hands on support to the Building Fabric Team within the Diamonds Installation & Facility Management (IFM) Group. You will carry out maintenance, repairs and upgrades to various parts of the building structure. The role will include carrying out building fabric maintenance, surveys, inspections, fault diagnosis, problem solving, and upgrades using hand tools and access equipment such as mobile elevated working platforms and mobile towers. This role will involve working at heights and undertaking physically demanding work.
Further Responsibilities Will Include
- Some supervision of specialist contractors, service engineers and suppliers including management of safety and the quality of installation/repair for sign off.
- Involvement in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Providing prompt solutions to Building Fabric issues, either directly or by evaluating how best to appoint and supervise others to resolve the issues.
- Liaising, communicating and directing various departments/teams across Diamond to explain the necessary works and to safely implement building fabric activities.
- Liaising with the Senior Facilities Technicians to ensure that works carried out are appropriately recorded within the computerised maintenance management system.
- Participating in Health and Safety and Quality Assurance procedures.
- Carrying out and assisting with the preparation of safety risk assessments and method statements.
About You
You will hold a City and Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, along with significant Building Fabric experience in areas such as gutters; brise soleil; multiple types of flooring; suspended ceiling systems; surveys and repairs to fire barriers; internal and external decoration; steelwork; handrails; walkways; building cladding, walls and roofing systems. You will also have experience of working at heights (including use of harnesses and descending/ascending systems), building upgrades and maintenance and of supervising contractors. You should be able to read technical reports and drawings, work competently on a PC, and have a current/previous MEWP operator licence. You must be confident with working at heights and undertaking the physical nature of the role.
