Senior Researcher – Finance and Audit at MERJE Ltd

MERJE is seeking a talented Interim Project Accountant for a leading Financial Services / Investment management firm for a 9 Month period.

Reporting to the Finance Director and working alongside the Management Accountant you will play a pivotal role in supporting the FD with the production of accurate financial reporting to provide assurance to the board.

The major focus of this role would be the improving the quality of the month end management account process and provide more robust reporting for the Statutory Accounts.

Key Responsibilities of Project Accountant:

  • Work with the management accountant on an additional “Year End” to be run at the end of September to ensure new IT system interactions are robust and to ensure other improvements are in place
  • Implement the improvements in the month end and current year end processes as part of the 2024 year audit
  • Yearend process and account production, liaising with auditors on their requests and queries
  • Improve the timeliness of the month end management account process working with the management accountant
  • Work with the management accountant to ensure the business from the transfer of engagements is now part of the standard processes
  • Support as needed development of the accounting/finance processes following the implementation of the new IT system
  • Continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.

Required Knowledge and Experience of Project Accountant

  • Qualified accountant or Part qualified (at Finalist stage)
  • Experience within the Insurance Industry or Financial Services Industry
  • Demonstrable experience of producing statutory accounts
  • Experience in producing management accounts and providing analysis with a detailed summary.
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics
  • A quick learner with an eye for detail who is capable of working to strict deadlines.
  • An enthusiastic team player with good communication skills.
  • Strong MS Excel knowledge and analysis reporting skills.
