The role

We’re seeking a motivated Account Handler (Commercial Insurance) to join the Jensten Group. The position is based at our Kidderminster office, with remote working considered for the right candidate. The primary focus will be on managing our Renewals book, with opportunities to handle New Business as well. Our insurance offerings include Motor Fleet, Commercial Combined, Professional Liability, and SMEs. Reporting to a team leader, your main responsibilities will be to retain and renew clients, perform midterm adjustments, and address client queries. Key duties include:

  • Presenting insurance solutions and risk management options to secure renewals and new business.
  • Supporting team performance through regular communication with colleagues and managers.
  • Identifying and pursuing cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, utilizing leads and developing new strategies to increase quotes.
  • Achieving or exceeding targets for quotes, sales, and income from all marketing channels.
  • Negotiating competitive terms with insurers to meet client needs.
  • Handling invoicing and credit control for premiums due.
  • Understanding clients’ business operations, risks, and risk management approaches.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, customer service standards, and external regulations such as FCA.

About you

As an Account Handler, you should have excellent communication and writing skills, with keen attention to detail. A desire for continuous development and a passion for insurance are essential. You should also have:

  • Experience in Commercial Insurance (essential).
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Cert CII) or working towards them.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent telephone manner and relationship-building skills.
  • Motivation to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
  • Previous experience working with insurers and clients.
  • Ability to use initiative, multitask, and update systems and admin efficiently.
  • Knowledge and experience with Acturis systems (preferably).
