Situated on the outskirts of Solihull and Coventry, we provide Rehabilitation & Recovery services to 31 inpatients over three wards: • Arley Ward – 10 bedded male R&R service (HDU) • Elkin Ward – 10 bedded male R&R service (HDU) • Millison Ward – 11 bedded male R&R service (Community Facing) Patients have a primary diagnosis of a Serious Mental Illness, with additional complexities such as physical health conditions, substance misuse, and secondary mental health issues. Priory Hospital Solihull benefits from a stable and established MDT which includes the Medical team, OT, Psychology, Nurses, HCAs and Ward Managers. We are also supported by diverse admin, support services and senior management teams. The hospital offers a range of assessments, treatments and interventions with a strong focus on patient collaboration in decision making and working with people in the least restrictive way. Our approach: The treatment programme at Priory Hospital Solihull aims to optimise patient\’s independence. All interventions aim to help the patient to maximise independence, understand the effect their experiences have on themselves and others, to help them to manage the impact of internal and external triggers on their behaviour, and ultimately to provide hope for a fulfilling future. These interventions include individual and group Psychological therapies, such as Substance Misuse, Relapse Prevention and Wellbeing, and Occupational Therapy, such as Cooking Skills, Budgeting and Life Skills. Our approach to care acknowledges patients as individuals, each with their own unique skills and needs. Supporting patients to identify meaningful and achievable goals is essential for successful engagement and treatment. Main duties of the job Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress Monitor and review Nursing Care plans Driving the hospital car to escort patients to attend appointments, visits, etc. Deal proactively and effectively with suggestions and complaints from patients and their families/carers Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team Participate in regular clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as requested Maintain a continued level of personal professional development in accordance to preceptorship and revalidation Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests, enquiries and suggestions Help to promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers Adhere to Medicines Management policies at all times Adhere to Priory Group policies and protocols and adhere to NMC Code Resilience – This is a role working with vulnerable patients who can have varying degrees of mental health difficulties, so there will be days where your resilience is challenged, this is why it\’s so important to have a team ethos in our Hospitals. Excellent Communication Skills – Communicating with patients and staff is vital to understand the needs of the patients and relay any information to the nurses and medical professionals. Organisational Skills – You\’ll need to be comfortable documenting information and be organised in your approach. Care and Compassion – Our patients require the best care and compassion we can offer, if you are a naturally caring person, this is a role for you. Attentive – No patient is the same and so being attentive to understand them and identify areas we can support is key. Shifts details: This role will predominantly be working night shifts following a successful probation. You will be required to work day shifts to attend training, supervisions, and other business needs. The shifts are 12 hours on a rota basis to include nights, weekends and bank holidays. Shift times would be: Day Shift = 07:30 – 19:45 Night Shift = 19:30 – 07:45 Our units operate 24 hours 7 days a week, and our nursing staff work shift patterns including weekends, bank holidays and nights.
