Salary: £14,782 – £21,781 per annum (actual salary) subject to a progression criteria*
Annual Leave: 22.5 days per annum plus bank holidays
Contractual hours: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks
Teaching hours: 432 hours per annum
Basis: Part Time, Permanent
Pension: Teachers Pension Scheme
- The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) & QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
Join Our Team
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Business Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a range of units within the Level 3 Business (BTEC) qualification.
MC6 is Middlesbrough College’s thriving Sixth Form centre. MC6 has an extensive curriculum offer, with a broad range of A Level and Vocational Equivalents as part of our very popular ‘Mix-It Up’ study programme. We also offer full time study programmes in Applied Science and adult programmes in Access to HE.
This purpose-built environment on the Middlesbrough College Campus provides students with a fantastic learning environment in which they can study, socialise, and develop new skills to help them progress.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Teach of Business, you will:
- Plan lessons for a variety of units on L3 Business that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning, specific subject content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work and student feedback meets Middlesbrough College Standards.
- Be prepared to offer pastoral support and feed into the Thrive programme of tutorial and enrichment opportunities for students in line with the college’s tutorial standards and to develop students Personal Development beyond the curriculum.
What We’re Looking For
We seek candidates who:
- Hold a relevant Business qualification at Degree level.
- Are a qualified Teacher or must be prepared to commence an appropriate teaching qualification on appointment to the post.
- Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities.
- Hold Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) or willing to work towards it.
- Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities – Desirable.
- To be willing to work towards Middlesbrough College’s Advanced Practitioner Programme.
