DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Drama Productions
LOCATION: Stratford-upon-Avon
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,000 – £50,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
For roles in BBC Studios Productions, you will be expected to work hours aligned with the production and genre you\’re in. This may exceed the standard 35-hour week.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
In January 2025, our primetime, high-end TV drama, Silent Witness, moved to Digbeth, alongside our sleuth-busting cosy crime series Father Brown, and Shakespeare and Hathaway to complete our West Midlands slate.
Located in our brand-new, purpose-built Prop Store, the Prop Master will oversee the setup and management of the store, supporting multiple productions. This senior-level role involves managing inventory using software, coordinating props across multiple productions, and ensuring smooth logistical operations.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Manage and maintain the prop inventory using software, including floor stock, studio builds, and prop repairs.
- Coordinate logistics across multiple productions, ensuring timely preparation and smooth operations.
- Handle physical tasks such as rigging, derigging, and manual handling as required.
- Support and potentially supervise trainees, contributing to their development and the wider team.
- Lead prop operations for productions, ensuring readiness and efficiency.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Proven senior-level experience in props or art department roles.
- Experience of multitasking and managing competing production demands.
- IT proficiency, especially with inventory systems.
- Comfortable with manual handling and physical aspects of the role.
- Experience of working in a role that requires problem-solving skills and communication with a range of stakeholders.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Driving license.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior staff.
