We are currently seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to join our Head Office in Thornton-Cleveleys on a permanent staff basis. The Role

As a Mechanical Piping Designer, you will play a key role in supporting our Mechanical Engineering team, contributing to a wide range of projects across the UK’s onshore process sectors. These include chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, and food & beverage industries.

You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical and piping design deliverables, working closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project execution. This role is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and update mechanical and piping drawings using Autodesk software (Plant 3D).
  • Interpret engineering specifications and client requirements to produce accurate design documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated and clash-free designs.
  • Assist in the preparation of bills of materials and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into design updates.
  • Support construction and commissioning teams with design-related queries.
  • Ensure all design work complies with relevant industry standards and project specifications.

Experience Required

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical and piping design within sectors such as petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk design tools, particularly Plant 3D.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to attend client sites for surveys and design coordination.
