Purpose of the role
This role focuses on health and safety, punctuality and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers. Responsibilities include operating fixed and mobile plant machinery, supervising general maintenance and inspections, and maintaining accurate records as per management guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Safe operation of rails mobile & static plants, including rail loadout and rail weighbridges.
- Produce and distribute materials within specified parameters to meet productivity and commercial targets.
- General cleaning and clearance of plant spillages during the shift.
- Receive, store and load trains and wagons as per site instructions.
- Carry out small maintenance and inspections as instructed.
- Visually inspect rail and associated plant and processes at regular intervals to identify and rectify problems.
- Promote safe, efficient and effective use of all site resources.
- Assist in risk assessments and method statements for every activity/task.
- Ensure rail assets are kept in good working order and cleaned at regular intervals.
- Comply with SHE and Quality Policies and Procedures.
- Advise on repair, replacement, maintenance costs and spares.
- Diagnose faults and operate PPM scheme.
- Maximise plant performance and availability.
Education / Qualification
- GCSE grade 4+ (equivalent to a C in Maths and English).
- Epic & NVQ in mobile/static plant operation.
- Safety Track Passport.
