Swimming Teacher
Ready for an exciting career in the Leisure industry?
We have a great opportunity for a qualified Swimming Instructor (STA Award/Certificate or SEQ Level 2), or for someone who can show the passion and willingness to achieve the STA Award qualification.
You will be instructing, coaching and teaching designated activities as appropriate to the level of ability, age range and target groups. You will be responsible for teaching a skill for life and have the ability to relay information in an informative and helpful way. You will be organising and carrying out lesson plans and assessments, ensuring the safe use and storage of equipment, whilst providing customers with confidence in the water.
Halo centres are vital community assets which are well used and supported by the local population. There is always room for growth and you will be a key player in the future of this centre.
Hours: – Up to 15.5 hours available
Shifts: – Monday – Friday between 3.30-7.00pm

Duties and responsibilities
Plan and carry out swimming lessons to increase customer skill and confidence
Provide feedback to customers to help them improve their swimming skills
Ensure customers are aware of the risks in the water and build confidence to overcome any barriers
Beat your targets
Run a safe and clean activity, taking care of the resources which are needed to deliver the services on offer
Pitch in as needed to help your centre, your manager, your colleagues
Promote our values and expectations
Support your colleagues
Commit to your own development
Take part in company training programmes
Provide feedback so we can continually improve
Respect the privacy rights of customers and colleagues
Take responsibility for your performance
Take an active interest in the company and your centre

Skills qualities and experience
Experience of instruction groups of mixed age and abilities
Knowledge of the National Plan for Swimming Teaching
Health and Safety
Good oral communication and interaction skills
Flexible approach to working hours including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
