Job Purpose: To provide an efficient, professional reception service to members and the public.

Hours of work: 14 hours per week, Tuesday and Wednesday from 06:45am – 14:15pm.

Weekend hours also available: Saturday from 13:00 – 17:15 (4.25 hours per week).

There will also be the opportunity to work extra hours as required.

Location: YMCA Sports and Community Centre, Princes Road, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 6JJ.

Salary: £12.47 per hour.

Annual leave: Five weeks (pro-rata) plus bank holidays. Holidays increase after two years’ service to a maximum of six weeks pro-rata after six years’ service. The holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year.

Main responsibilities:

  • Reception plays a central and vital part of the YMCA’s work for staff and users. Reception administers access for all visitors to the YMCA Sports and Community Centre at Princes Road and handles a large number of phone calls.
  • The Receptionist will support the YMCA\’s work in meeting the needs of the local community, providing assistance and support across all areas of the centre’s work.
  • Provide a friendly welcome to YMCA members and non-members, delivering the highest standard of customer care and reflecting the YMCA’s ethos of concern and welcome for all.
  • Ensure that reception, as the first point of contact, effectively promotes and markets YMCAES’s work to the highest professional standards.
  • Take payments for activities using the leisure management system, and support prospective members using Join@Home and the app for the first time.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and in a friendly manner, dealing with inquiries or diverting calls as appropriate.
  • Ensure inquiries from members and non-members about the activities of the Association are efficiently dealt with, either directly or by signposting to appropriate colleagues, ensuring information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Welcome members who wish to raise concerns or express thanks, passing them on to the Duty Officer for resolution.
  • Process bookings for activities and room hire, ensuring all relevant information is recorded and passed to the appropriate Manager.
  • Reconcile figures and cash at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with outgoing post and report stock levels.
  • Be aware of and able to carry out security and Health and Safety procedures as necessary.
