About The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Indirect Tax Manager to join us here at Northumbrian Water Group, to play a key role in supporting the Indirect Tax Manager to ensure compliance with all indirect tax obligations and to maintain an optimal tax position across the Group.
This is a varied and dynamic role that encompasses VAT compliance, advisory responsibilities, and involvement in other indirect taxes such as Climate Change Levy, Landfill Tax, Aggregates Levy, Customs Duties, and Plastic Packaging Tax.
You will also contribute to the Senior Accounting Officer assurance process and assist with corporation tax activities, including monthly reporting and the preparation of tax returns.
Your work will support the wider tax team and contribute to the success of the Groups Finance Transformation programme, including the upgrade from Oracle R12 to Oracle Fusion.
The role is based at Northumbria House, Pity Me, with flexibility for some home working.
The role will be known internally as Indirect Tax Accountant.
About You
We are looking for someone who is qualified or part-qualified CTA or equivalent (ACA, ACCA) with experience in an Indirect Tax role. We may be able to support further study for part-qualified accountants, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
You will possess strong technical knowledge of VAT and are confident in communicating complex tax matters clearly and professionally.
You are self-motivated, capable of working independently, and have a solid understanding of tax risk and controls and your ability to meet tight deadlines and your strong IT skills, particularly in financial systems, will be essential.
Experience with AlphaVAT, AlphaTax, and Oracle ERP modules is advantageous, as well as some knowledge of corporation tax and the water industry.
We are looking for you to be results-oriented, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to enable you to interpret financial information effectively.
A strategic and commercially aware mindset, combined with a collaborative and flexible approach to work, will ensure your success in this role.
