Job Description:
Aspen is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of a pricing platform for quoting business for Casualty and Specialty Reinsurance.
This platform aims to enhance our pricing calculations and capabilities and streamline processes. The role will be integral to our agile project delivery, ensuring that we adapt quickly to changes and deliver value incrementally. The purpose of this role is to ensure we have a clear understanding of the requirements to implement the system and process changes. We are at the stage of defining our requirements and associated user stories.
The key purpose of this role is to collaborate between Underwriters & Pricing Actuaries to provide actionable user stories to the development teams.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with stakeholders, including underwriters, actuaries, and IT teams, to gather and document requirements.
* Analyze and translate IT/business needs into technical specifications/user stories for reinsurance systems and processes.
* Work closely with developers and project managers to ensure the successful delivery of outcomes.
* Facilitate workshops and meetings to elicit requirements and validate solutions.
* Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories with acceptance criteria, and process flows.
* Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders and the project team to manage and prioritise backlogs of features, epics and user stores that deliver measurable value for the business and are fully traceable to project goals
* Monitor progress and report on key milestones and deliverables.
* Ensure continuous improvement by incorporating feedback and lessons learned into future sprints.
* Conduct gap analysis and recommend solutions to improve reinsurance operations.
* Work closely with IT and development teams to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements.
* Perform data analysis, data mapping and validation to support reinsurance transactions and reporting.
* Assist in the design and testing of reinsurance systems and applications, for example, some VBA knowledge may be useful for developing prototypes.
* Provide training and support to end-users on reinsurance processes and systems.
* Produce deliverables in accordance with Aspen\’s \’best practice\’ quality procedures, to ensure consistency and quality across the Change function
Deliverables:
* User stories/requirements documents after collaboration with underwriters and pricing actuaries
* Translation of requirements into actionable deliverables for development teams
* Documented target process flows for Underwriting & Pricing teams. Include data flows, hand-offs and controls
Successful candidate must have:
* At least 8 years proven experience as a Business Analyst in insurance or reinsurance, preferably within the reinsurance industry.
* Strong technical understanding of underwriting / pricing processes, data, systems, terminology and methodologies.
* Strong experience in writing user stories and supporting sprint delivery model
* Experience of DevOps, JIRA and/ or other user story management tools.
* Proficiency in business analysis tools / techniques and software.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to produce actionable documents for development teams
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with rapidly evolving targets and priorities
* Experience with agile project management methodologies and popular tools is essential
* Proactively manage workloads and competing priorities, taking appropriate action where necessary, to address potential issues that could impact deliverables
