This role supports the Deputy Head of Catering in maintaining high standards of food preparation, cooking, and service. The post holder will provide attractive, palatable meals to hospital patients, staff, and visitors, taking responsibility for the quality and outcome of each dish and task.
The chef must uphold the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress, and ensure safe food hygiene and health & safety practices are observed at all times.

Main duties of the job
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to the menu, maintaining high standards of food hygiene.
- Maintain and record necessary \”due diligence\” records, such as fridge, freezer temperatures, and HACCP documentation.
- Follow all aspects of food safety management systems for which responsible.
- Use standard recipes and methods, making economical use of ingredients while avoiding waste.
- Allocate work to kitchen support staff with the Deputy Head/Manager and assist in training new chefs, catering assistants, and porters.
- Verify that all received food meets quality and quantity standards, applying basic stock control principles.
- Assist in ordering perishable foods and dairy store items.
