South Uttlesford Primary Care Network has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and forward-thinking emergency care practitioner (ECP) / paramedic to provide dedicated support to our 4 general practices and the local population. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 18 hours per week, over 2 days, for a 2-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
You will operate across a neighbourhood of practices, providing specialist paramedic resources and supporting the delivery of PCN service objectives within a surgery setting.
Main Responsibilities
- Work as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, providing a holistic approach, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services.
- Collaborate with a wider multi-disciplinary PCN workforce including pharmacists and social prescribers.
- Use advanced clinical skills to educate patients, promote self-care, and empower informed decision-making.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions related to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.
About the Candidate
If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner (ECP)/paramedic seeking a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. Previous primary care experience is not essential; applications from those working in other settings are welcome.
- Be a registered paramedic with current HCPC registration and post-registration experience, ideally in primary care.
- Possess advanced clinical assessment, reasoning, and decision-making skills.
- Have practical experience in at least two of the following: GP/Minor illness, walk-in centre, A&E, GP out of hours, or ambulance service.
- Be capable of effectively assessing, planning, treating, and referring patients.
- Confidently evaluate patient care.
- Experience working with protocols and guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make clear decisions and communicate effectively.
- Understanding of working within the scope of training and HCPC regulations.
- Experience in autonomous practice and multi-professional team working.
- Ability to work flexibly in core hours to meet service needs.
Desirable:
- Experience within a primary care setting.
- Working towards advanced clinical practitioner status.
- Mentorship or supervisory skills training.
