We are a looking for a trustworthy, proactive and discreet country loving Housekeeper and Gardener/Handyman to join our welcoming household. We are a friendly relaxed family with three adult children, all working away but frequently returning for weekends.
We live in a beautiful rural setting; extremely quiet location with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The house is set in the middle of our small estate of 120 acres, which is largely managed by a neighbouring farmer. We offer a happy easy-going environment.
THE HOUSEKEEPING ROLE – Responsible for daily cleaning, laundry, ironing and linen changing. Caring for antique furniture, silver, fine linens and artworks. Managing the housekeeping supplies. Liaising with tradesmen, receiving deliveries, ensuring the house runs smoothly and is well organised. Looking after our two well-behaved Labradors, taking them for morning and afternoon walks, feeding and regular dog sitting.
THE GARDENER/HANDYMAN ROLE – Work alongside our live-out gardener to maintain the gardens, lawns, gravel, hedges and woodland. Basic property maintenance and DIY. Machinery and tool upkeep. Light decorating and small household fixes. Chopping logs and laying fires in the winter. Vehicle care. Swimming pool and tennis court maintenance.
KEY REQUIREMENTS – Experience in a similar role essential. Discretion and a respect for privacy. Calm, adaptable and can-do attitude. Dog friendly. Enhanced DBS and references required. One person must be a good driver, and preferably have own car. A good standard of English. Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday. Weekends and evenings are free except when we need help with dog sitting, and very rarely help if we are entertaining. We could consider the Housekeeping role to be just 30 hours per week but this would be a discussion once we meet.
Accommodation – A lovely well equipped two bedroom cottage included for the right couple, near to the house but private. Start date – mid August/beginning September. Salary: GBP48,000 – 50,000 negotiable for both full time.
