Your Role as Funding Team Manager:

  • Lead and manage the Education Funding Team, overseeing recruitment, development, and daily operations, while ensuring compliance with financial standards and robust payment processes across Children and Young People’s Services (CYP).
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments, maintaining systems and processes to meet deadlines and support financial accountability, including devolving High Needs funding to diverse education providers.
  • Oversee financial risk management and business continuity, escalating issues to leadership, identifying performance risks, and implementing mitigation strategies within CYP Services.
  • Support strategic financial planning and monitoring, including liaising with Schools Finance Business Partners, responding to data requests (FOIs, benchmarking), and assisting budget holders with forecasting and reporting.
  • Maintain financial integrity and audit readiness, ensuring proper authorisation, record-keeping, and adherence to internal systems to support accurate data quality and evidence-based decision-making.

Your previous experience as a Funding Team Manager

  • Strong understanding of education and local authority frameworks, including statutory duties, Children’s Services functions, and council policies and procedures.
  • Extensive experience in office administration and financial management, with a focus on complex financial processes, budget oversight, and project management principles.
  • Proficient in IT systems, with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Windows, and Office applications to support operational and collaborative tasks.
  • Well-versed in key legislation, including health and safety, data protection, and equal opportunities, ensuring compliance in all areas of work.
  • Experienced in local authority finance and education systems, with a deep understanding of budget management and the ability to support strategic financial planning.
