About The Role
Core Purpose
Assisting the Travel Manager with the day-to-day operations of both branches, you will be expected to inspire, support, motivate and coach our team of consultants. Leading by example, you will assist in delivering exceptional customer service to maximise sales and overall profitability.
You will be passionate about travel and travelling and can confidently assist customers selecting a holiday to meet their requirements whether this is a summer holiday, Cruise or UK break.
Accountability & Impact
The post-holder is expected to fulfil the following key measures of performance;
- Excellent product knowledge and the ability to understand customers’ requirements to assist with the selection of a holiday confidently and enthusiastically.
- Advise and guide customers regarding holiday locations demonstrating knowledge and experience of worldwide popular tourist destinations.
- Have the ability, experience and confidence to assist customers with complex travel itineraries.
- Maximise sales, whilst assisting the Travel Manager to ensure the overall profitability of the branches.
- Assisting with the supervision, coaching and development of branch staff.
- Prepare daily and weekly performance reports.
- Assist customers confidently with the purchase foreign currency.
- Provide professional and excellent customer service.
- Assist with maintaining branch standards.
- Adherence to Society policies and procedures.
Working with Others
The role involves considerable interaction with customers and requires excellent interpersonal skills.
The role involves interacting with Society staff at all levels and representatives of suppliers.
The post-holder must be able to communicate confidently and clearly.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge & passion for worldwide popular tourist destinations.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service.
- Good accuracy and numerical skills. Competent IT skill.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Travel Consultant.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Tarsc CRM System.
- Bureau De Change experience.
- Experience as an Assistant Manager in a Travel Agency.
- A recognised travel qualification.

We began trading in a small shop on Tindal Street, Chelmsford, and later merged with the Braintree and West Essex Co-operative in the late 1960s.
