Job Description

The Role

As part of the role you will:

  • Manage DE teams to deliver data solutions for clients
  • Lead in architecting data landscapes that reflect data strategies
  • Understand and translate end-user requirements into designs and delivery plans for effective data solutions
  • Design, develop, and execute frameworks for managing the build of pipelines using cloud technologies
  • Manage teams in supporting technical implementations and resolve data quality issues within given SLAs
  • Manage the development of best practice within the Data Engineering practice
  • Take a lead role in mentoring and developing others in the team and inspire them through commitment and enthusiasm
  • Work with Azure team leads to ensure best practice implementations
  • Build an inclusive team culture focusing on service excellence and exceptional performance
  • Manage the development and maintenance of T&Ts documentation and processes

Qualifications

Skills required for this role are:

  • Proven experience working and managing teams working in:
    • Databricks
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Data Lake
    • Azure Synapse (and data warehousing approaches) or SSIS
    • Azure Analysis Services
    • DataOps and Data Quality tools such as Great Expectations
  • Comprehensive and demonstrable experience in programming languages such as:
    • SQL
    • Python
    • Spark
    • DAX
    • C#
  • Comprehensive and demonstrable experience in DevOps practices:
    • CI/CD (Azure DevOps preferable)
    • GIT and Version Control
    • Terraform or Bicep development
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal – able to translate complex technical subject matter into easily understood presentations and written documentation for mixed technical audiences.
  • MLOps / Machine Learning Engineering processes to support advanced analytical use cases
  • Container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience translating designs of Azure data solutions into action
  • Working in a support environment
  • Analysis/requirements gathering, solution design, and implementation of data platform and Azure technologies
  • Experience in collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams, including software engineers, DevOps and infrastructure teams, data scientists etc.
