Construction Tutor
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £24,000 – £28 000 pa (depending upon experience & qualifications)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Oldbury
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Oldbury as a Construction Tutor supporting learners in achieving their Level 1 qualification.
You will be required to carry out all duties in accordance with the Education Inspection Framework requirements and organisational processes and policies.
Work towards and achieve targets set by Nova and the ESFA relating to all aspects of the Apprenticeship by delivering new standards and (where necessary existing frameworks).

As a Construction Tutor you will ensure the learners gain high-quality vocational skills and accreditation that prepares them for the workplace and world of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan individual learning to meet learner needs and ensure lesson plans and resources are prepared prior to learners attending.
- Creating conditions in the training centre(s) which will help to develop the abilities, skills and confidence of each learner.
- Monitor, review and assess learners on a regular basis to meet the requirements of awarding and funding bodies and ensure learners make the progress expected.
- Ensure that learners are involved in the decision-making process, either as individuals or in groups through learner forums.
- Teamwork is a vital aspect of the success of NOVA as an organisation and all members of staff will be expected to take an active part in team meetings and be involved in the general development of the vocational learning offer.
- Develop training and embed support, advice and guidance to learners in order to maximise progression opportunities for learners.
- Maintain comprehensive records of learner attendance and punctuality and take appropriate action where attendance falls below the minimum levels.
- To undertake any other relevant duties as specified by your line manager, commensurate with the level of this post.
Requirements:
Full Teaching Qualification I.e. Cert Ed, C&G 7307 or willingness to work towards one.
- Level 2 literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience in Building and Carpentry with a Level 2 qualification
- Relevant Vocational/teaching experience as appropriate for area of delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Knowledge of relevant software tools and technologies used in the construction sector.
- Current full UK Drivers Licence (with full access to a vehicle)
- 2 years experience of delivering training
