Manager, Operations

At DSV, we\’re building the world’s leading logistics and transport network. We are seeking a Manager, Operations at our Stoke on Trent location to oversee warehouse activities.

As a manager, you will oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, managing people, processes, and systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity targets are met.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Manage all warehouse operations, including inbound, outbound, and reverse flow.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Oversee warehouse audit compliance.
  • Control warehouse costs within budget.
  • Manage reports, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan resource allocation considering fluctuations and seasonality.
  • Assist in recruitment and manage staff absence and retention.
  • Coach and mentor staff, providing feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with WMS processes.
  • Handle disciplinary issues per company policy.
  • Liaise with other business functions and retail stores.
  • Communicate with the team about business plans and performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.

People Management

  • Develop warehouse leaders to enhance performance.
  • Communicate priorities and operational requirements to staff.
  • Implement policies and review performance.

Experience

  • Senior management experience.
  • Finance experience desirable.
  • Health and safety qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of warehouse processes.
  • People management skills.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Strong work ethic and team leadership skills.
  • Management skills to optimize team performance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualifications (HND, BTec Level 5, NVQ Level 5).
  • Experience in warehouse management, preferably in automotive.
  • Management experience.
  • Inventory control experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements, including dangerous goods handling.
  • Warehouse or distribution qualification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of lean techniques is advantageous.
  • Forklift license may be required.
  • Membership of industry bodies is advantageous.
