Salary: £29,525 – A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Contract Type: Fixed term (Up to 24 months with the possibility of permanency) – Flexible working, Full-time, Job share, Part-time

Overview

The Counter Fraud Investigator is responsible for the day-to-day investigations across the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Driver/Rider/Vehicle environments. This role will primarily work with Driver related investigations, though you will need to be highly adaptable and flexible to business needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Adopting the role of “Lead Investigator” when allocated, with the responsibility of planning, preparing, and managing the investigations to a criminal standard based on evidence.
  • Ensuring investigations are conducted in an evidence-based manner.
  • Investigating all allocated reports of suspected theory and/or practical driving tests (including impersonations and technology-assisted cheating at tests) and malpractice against the agency.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need the following experience:

  • Knowledge & experience in managing and investigating criminal investigations to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge & experience of conducting criminal investigations in line with PACE, CPIA and the Scottish equivalents of CPA, Common Law.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in varying circumstances and the ability to handle conflicting situations.
  • Confidence in building solid working relationships at all levels; a team player who collaborates to achieve goals.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to business requirements and strategic direction.

If not already held, applicants will need to demonstrate a willingness to work towards an Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice at Level 7 when in post.
