Administrator Pay Rate: £22.65 per hour

Job Duties:

We are looking for a proactive and organized Project Manager to join our Senior Civil Service (SCS) Resourcing team. This role involves managing high-profile recruitment campaigns that shape the future of public service leadership across all NICS departments.

You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of SCS resourcing projects—from planning and scheduling to tracking milestones and ensuring progress. You’ll play a key role in delivering each campaign on time, to a high standard, and in line with NICS principles.

The SCS Resourcing branch provides strategic and operational HR services across the NICS, managing externally advertised recruitment, internal trawls, temporary promotions, secondments, and exception to merit appointments. It works closely with colleagues in People & Organisational Development to shape policies and strategies at both departmental and NICS-wide levels.

This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives on coordination, communication, and making things happen—ideal for a motivated individual eager to make a meaningful impact in public service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Delivery:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans for SCS recruitment, including timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (e.g., Departmental clients, Commissioners, panel members, communications) to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Monitor progress against plans and proactively manage risks, issues, and changes.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain status reports, dashboards, and highlight reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Civil Service recruitment principles and audit requirements.
  • Support documentation for assurance reviews and audits.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the main contact for assigned competitions, providing advice and updates to senior leaders and panel chairs.
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g., assessment providers, advertising agencies) to ensure timely service delivery.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline resourcing processes and documentation.
  • Contribute to lessons learned reviews and implement improvements for future campaigns.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with colleagues across resourcing and HR teams to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Project.
  • At least two years of managing projects with multiple interdependent streams using PRINCE2 methodology.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Project Manager in public sector projects.
