We are now looking to expand our team with a skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to help drive the procurement strategy, ensuring the seamless supply of materials and services to support our ambitious growth and high standards of delivery.

Role Overview:
The Procurement Manager will play a key role in managing all procurement activities within the business, from cost planning and ordering of materials through to quality checks and stock management. This is a critical position that will require someone with strong experience in procurement within the construction or manufacturing sector, preferably with a focus on architectural and structural metalwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Planning and Budgeting:
    Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies aligned with project requirements, ensuring materials are sourced efficiently and within budget.
    Prepare detailed cost estimates, taking into account material requirements, lead times, and market trends to assist with accurate budgeting and forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.

  • Supplier Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating best possible pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
    Identify and onboard new suppliers, ensuring a diverse and competitive supply chain.
    Conduct regular supplier reviews to ensure quality standards are met, delivery schedules are adhered to, and suppliers maintain ethical and sustainable practices.

  • Materials Ordering and Stock Management:
    Oversee the ordering process for materials, ensuring that all necessary supplies are delivered on time, in the right quantities, and in compliance with quality standards.
    Maintain accurate stock levels and minimize the risk of shortages or excess inventory, which could impact project timelines or costs.

  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    Ensure that all materials procured meet required quality standards and specifications, conducting thorough quality checks upon receipt of goods.
    Work closely with the quality control team to address any non-compliance issues and ensure adherence to health and safety standards, as well as regulatory requirements.

  • Forecasting and Reporting:
    Prepare regular procurement reports for senior management, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and any procurement-related issues.
    Monitor and forecast future material requirements based on project timelines and business growth, adjusting procurement strategies as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Manager or in a similar procurement role within the construction, manufacturing, or metalwork sectors, with at least 5 years of experience in procurement.
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience in managing the ordering and supply of architectural and structural materials, particularly metalwork products, including managing quality checks and supplier compliance.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess market trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, health and safety regulations, and quality control processes.
  • Proficient in using procurement and inventory management software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
