Operation Manager Tyre Recycling / Waste Management Sector Shrewsbury £50,000 – £60,000 Per Annum + Fully expensed Company Car A leading player in the UK and Ireland’s tyre and rubber waste management sector is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join its expanding team. This is a multi-site leadership role, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a tyre recycling and waste processing facility, ensuring maximum efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. The company is building a nationwide network designed to deliver consistent and compliant services to retail, commercial, and industrial waste producers – with ambitions to become the go-to service provider for major nationwide tyre distribution, retail, and reprocessing partners. Remuneration & Benefits: Competitive salary between £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. Fully expensed company car or car allowance. Fuel card, laptop, and mobile phone. Full reimbursement of vouched business-related expenses. A role combining hands-on operational oversight with strategic and commercial responsibilities. The Candidate; Proven experience in operations management, ideally within waste management, recycling, logistics, or manufacturing environments. Experience overseeing multi-site operations is highly desirable. A background in transport management is highly desirable A CPC Transport Management qualification is desirable A strong track record in managing day-to-day operational activities and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams across various functions, with experience in coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental compliance, particularly in relation to waste processing and recycling operations. Ability to ensure site compliance with all relevant legislation, including environmental permits, risk assessments, and safety procedures. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment. Analytical mindset with experience using KPIs and operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement effective improvements. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers, clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders. Commercial awareness and understanding of how operational decisions impact business performance. Ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate for best commercial outcomes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and confidence in using operational software for planning, tracking, and reporting purposes. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between multiple operational sites as required. Duties and Responsibilities; Lead and manage day-to-day operations of a busy tyre recycling and waste site. Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives. Motivate and support a team of operational staff, driving performance through training and hands-on leadership. Monitor and report on KPIs, operational performance, and compliance. Manage cost-effective logistics for the collection of end-of-life tyres and other waste streams. Oversee stock control and site compliance with environmental regulations. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and sector stakeholders. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cross-departmental collaboration. Support the senior leadership team in executing group-wide business strategies.
