Job Advert Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Mere House. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life. Mere House is home to 11 people we support with mixed abilities and diverse needs. Mere House has 10 self-contained flats. The people we support all have varied needs supporting with medication, shopping, cooking, support in Eating and drinking in line with SaLTs, finances, household tasks, completing forms, some personal care. It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. Supporting individuals live as independently as possible, out and about in the community on day trips and holidays -while building peoples life skills. What qualities and skills do you require? Relationship building skills are vital for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships. It is also important that support workers develop patience, understanding, and effective conflict-resolution techniques to help navigate challenging situations. What we're looking for: • A genuine passion for supporting others. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships. • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities. Contract options: Part-time:28 Hours Shift times: All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life! • Days: Between 07:00-23:00 • Waking Nights: 09:00-07:00 There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20.
