Job Description

We are seeking a soft woven designer to join our London design team. In this role, you will support our senior designers and internal teams to develop trend-led womenswear collections. You will contribute to concept development and assist in managing the design process from initial idea to production. This position is based in our London office and offers a hands-on development opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, commercial design environment. If you are passionate about fashion design and eager to grow your skills in a creative yet business-driven setting, this role will let you learn the ropes of commercial design while making a visible impact on our collections.

Key Responsibilities

         •       Garment Design:  design soft woven womenswear garments (such as dresses, blouses, and trousers) that reflect the latest trends and meet client briefs, from initial sketch through to final sample.

         •       Trend Research & Development: Support trend research by compiling inspiration, creating mood boards, and staying up-to-date on emerging styles. Assist in fabric and trim sourcing to ensure materials align with the design vision and quality standards.

         •       CAD and Tech Pack Creation: Produce clear CAD sketches and contribute to creating detailed tech packs (technical specifications) for each design to hand off to pattern cutters and manufacturers, ensuring accurate execution of ideas.

         •       Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with UK buyers, merchandisers, and technical teams to incorporate feedback and adapt designs to meet customer needs and commercial requirements. Maintain open communication to ensure designs are viable for production and aligned with market trends.

         •       Design Refinement: Help adapt and refine garment designs based on fitting sessions and buyer feedback. Make revisions under the guidance of senior designers, balancing creative appeal with practical considerations.

         •       Presentations: Participate in product presentation meetings with the team. Assist in preparing presentation materials (line sheets, boards, samples) and clearly communicate design concepts and stories to buyers or other stakeholders.

         •       Sample Tracking & Development Coordination: Support the tracking of design samples and prototypes through the development process. Coordinate with the product development and production teams to ensure timelines are met and final products faithfully represent the approved designs.

Requirements

         •       Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in womenswear fashion design (specifically in soft wovens like dresses, blouses, trousers), ideally for UK High Street retailers or similar fast-fashion brands.

         •       Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software for fashion design, as well as other design tools. Experience creating technical drawings and spec sheets is essential.

         •       Trend & Detail Awareness: Strong trend awareness with an eye for color, print, and silhouette in the womenswear market. Knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction details for wovens. Excellent attention to detail in translating ideas into technical designs.

         •       Organizational & Communication Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork abilities – able to clearly present ideas and collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and buyers.

         •       Education & Language: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field. Fluent in English (written and spoken).

         •       Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on varied tasks in the design process.
