Principal Social Worker – Locality Mental Health Team Taf Ely
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to invite applications for a Principal Social Work position within the Taf Ely Community Mental Health Team.
The teams consist of a Social Work Team Practice & Performance Manager, Principal Social Workers, Social Workers (including AMHPs), Community Psychiatric Nurses, a Community Psychiatric Team Lead, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and an Occupational Therapist.
The Principal Social Worker will assist the Team Practice and Performance Manager in supporting the team, deputising when needed, and carrying a small complex caseload. You will mentor newly qualified practitioners, support supervision with your team, and commit to your own development. Regular informal and formal supervision will be provided. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in health and third sector services, working toward recovery for and with service users with a recovery-based approach to social care services.
The Principal Social Worker will have opportunities to develop leadership skills, influence service development, and be supported by a strong management team at strategic and operational levels.
We recognise the professional and personal challenges of social work and offer an in-house Learning and Development Centre to support practitioners at each level for Continuous Professional Development.
The role requires compliance with key legislative requirements (Mental Health Measures Wales 2010, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005) and an understanding of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. A professional recognised Social Work qualification is required, and registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales on appointment. Additional enhanced payment is available to candidates with the Approved Mental Health Professionals qualification and undertaking that role within the position.
