Our client is leading Main Contractor based in the North East, known for delivering high-quality projects across various sectors. They\’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Trainee/Graduate Estimator to join our dynamic pre-construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently completed a relevant degree or qualification (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar) and is looking to get stuck into the industry. You\’ll receive comprehensive training and support, working alongside experienced professionals to develop your skills and grow your career within a supportive environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

Assisting in the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of construction projects.

Learning to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other tender documents.

Supporting the team in collating and analysing quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.

Assisting with the measurement of quantities from drawings and specifications.

Helping to identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities.

Contributing to the preparation of tender sum analyses and cost plans.

Developing an understanding of different procurement routes and contract types.

Maintaining accurate records and databases of tender information.

Collaborating effectively with internal teams, including design, operations, and commercial.

Undertaking site visits when required to understand project scope and constraints.

Continuously developing your knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
What we\’re looking for:

A recent graduate with a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

A strong desire to learn and develop a career in estimating within the construction industry.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a good eye for detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A proactive and organised approach to work, with the ability to manage time effectively.

A full UK driving licence may be beneficial, depending on project locations.
