Workshop Recruitment is seeking a Carpenter/Multi Trader to perform responsive maintenance, void property works, and gas heating maintenance. The role includes both in-hours work and participation in a call-out rota.
Tradespersons must possess relevant qualifications and have broad domestic and commercial experience in their core trades, with additional skills to handle tasks outside their primary expertise.
The operative must maintain a professional appearance and attitude, always being polite and courteous. All operatives are required to pass a DBS check.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and repair faults within core and related trades.
- Ensure all work meets high-quality standards.
- Support all trades in delivering professional and safe maintenance and repairs.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and resolve them efficiently.
- Keep customers informed about progress and plans.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and plant in a safe and clean condition.
- Accurately record work undertaken, including photographic evidence if necessary.
- Be willing to work out of hours as required by the client and customer.
- Participate as part of the team and be available for an on-call rota (out of hours).
SKILLS REQUIRED
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience.
- Ability to fit & fix mortice latches, door hanging, lining, and rebated frameworks.
- Experience with kitchen installation, including mitred worktop joints (internal & external).
- Effective communication skills using phone and PDA.
- Professionalism when dealing with tenants, especially when explaining repair limitations.
- Practical understanding of health and safety to ensure safety for oneself and others.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Fabrication, remodelling, and repairs to structures and frameworks.
- Experience with fire door installation (desirable).
- Competence within your area of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Trade-specific qualification, minimum NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry (essential).
- Competence in two other secondary skills.
- Full valid driving license.
- DBS check required before starting.
EXPERIENCE
- Over 3 years of trade experience, ideally in residential repairs.
- Good knowledge of residential building regulations.
- At least 5 years of kitchen installation experience (1st & 2nd fix).
- Experience with laminate fitting (desirable).
