About the Role
Working at St Leonards\’ School Medical Centre in St Andrews offers a unique working environment within a small, friendly team led by the Lead School Nurse and supported by the Healthcare and Medical Administrator.
The principal role of the School Nurse is to work as part of the medical team providing first-class medical care, information, and guidance to pupils. You will support the Lead Nurse in overseeing the nursing team, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and skills are used effectively to maintain high standards of nursing care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting boarding students to maintain their physical and mental health, providing nursing care when unwell, and playing a pastoral role.
- Providing emergency care and first aid, including organizing appointments with health specialists.
- Day-to-day treatment of unwell or injured students, creating and implementing care plans for students with specific health needs, and supporting non-qualified staff in delivering care safely.
- Collaborating with local public health teams on immunizations and other medical matters.
- Supporting students with medical needs to lead active school lives, providing a safe space for concerns, and signposting to other services as needed.
