Manchester University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Reading Coach within the Henney Department of Education. Funded by a Lilly grant, this position plays a critical role in shaping the next generation of educators through mentorship, training, and innovative literacy initiatives. The Reading Coach will support faculty and elementary education teacher candidates in effectively utilizing the Science of Reading and lead literacy initiatives including our Spartan Literacy Lab and Summer Slide Academy.
What You\’ll Do:

Mentor teacher candidates and faculty in evidence-based reading instruction.

Design and implement the Spartan Literacy Lab and Summer Slide Academy (a nine-week summer reading camp).

Provide reading intervention and enrichment for PreK–6th grade students.

Collaborate on professional development planning and delivery.

Train and supervise student interns and volunteers working in the Literacy Lab.

Align reading instruction with Indiana Department of Education reading endorsement standards.

Offer constructive feedback to teacher candidates during clinical experiences.
What You\’ll Need:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience as a reading coach and in PreK–6th grade settings is preferred.

Training in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) or willingness to be trained.

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic educational environment.
