Quantity Surveyor – Northampton

The Role
You will join as a Quantity Surveyor delivering high‑specification fit‑out and refurbishment projects across the UK. Projects typically range from £1m–£5m, across sectors such as stadiums and large public venues, museums, high‑end retail, hospitality, commercial interiors, and bespoke joinery‑led environments.
You will manage schemes from conception to completion, often working on fast‑paced projects with short lead times and delivery periods of 4–12 weeks. Procurement cycles can be tight, valuations move quickly, and subcontractor management is key. Site visits are required 1–2 days per week depending on project load.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial management from inception to completion
- Managing valuations, variations, applications for payment, and final accounts
- Procuring specialist interior and joinery packages
- Negotiating and managing subcontractor accounts
- Measuring and valuing works on‑site
- Running 2–4 schemes (size dependent), simultaneously
- Attending site visits 1–2 days per week
- Working closely with PMs to manage materials, risk, and short lead‑time procurement
- Maintaining strong, non‑confrontational relationships with clients and supply chain partners
Person Specification
- Experienced Quantity Surveyor with 4+ years’ experience
- Fit‑out or refurbishment experience is a strong advantage
- Will also consider subcontractor backgrounds from the following sectors: drylining, joinery, and M&E
- Broader backgrounds in general contracting or housing also considered
- Strong commercial awareness and contractual understanding (JCT)
- Comfortable managing short timelines and fast‑paced delivery
- Someone who enjoys being busy, takes ownership, and builds strong relationships
