People Manager – Strategic HR Leadership Opportunity

Location: Chelmsford, Essex (Full-Time)

A dynamic and acquisitive insurance business is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking People Manager to join its high-performing HR function. This is a pivotal strategic role, reporting directly to the People Director and leading the People Advisory Team and People Operations.

As People Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering a proactive, compliant, and high-quality HR service across the organisation. You\’ll oversee employee relations, policy implementation, benefits schemes, payroll operations, and people processes—while ensuring excellence in employee experience and alignment with business goals.

This is a role for a strong HR leader with a collaborative approach, operational rigour, and the ability to guide through change. You’ll be integral to supporting the integration of acquisitions, managing TUPE processes, and leading strategic initiatives that drive organisational performance and culture.

Role Requirements:

  • Proven HR/People Management experience
  • Extensive TUPE transfer experience in an acquisitive business
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent HR training
  • Strong experience in employee relations, TUPE, and organisational change
  • Confident leader with experience managing both advisory and administrative HR teams
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Ability to deliver and influence at a strategic level
  • Experience with payroll, benefits, and HR system processes
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
