Overview

2 x full time Phlebotomists are required to support the introduction of a 7-day phlebotomist service, which will cover evenings and weekends. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred care to service users and contributing to a centre of excellence with opportunities for robust personal development and an enhanced rate for services in line with the Agenda for Change framework. Note: This role states that sponsorship is not available.

Main duties / Responsibilities

The main duties include blood sampling for patients on all acute wards, providing a service to the busy blood sampling room, and for patients attending clinics of varying specialties. Previous phlebotomy experience is advantageous but not essential; successful candidates will attend the trust venepuncture training prior to undertaking practice as arranged with the Trust Education Department. Practical assessments will take place in the workplace.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement

Desirable

  • Care Certificate / NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship already achieved

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Basic knowledge of IT packages
  • Willingness to complete NCA venepuncture training
  • Experience of promoting care formally / informally
  • Demonstrate an interest or previous experience in caring for patients in an acute setting

Desirable

  • NHS Venepuncture training

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the 7-day service
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Good customer service skills
