PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Directly oversees the Registered Nurses, Surgical Technicians and Ancillary Staff in the performance of his/her daily duties in the Falmouth Hospital Endoscopy Outpatient Surgery Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practices according to entity mandatory requirements
- Practices according to department expectations
- Practices with a Customer Service approach to all activities
- Describes and promotes the mission of the department
- Demonstrates skills and ability in all aspects of performance management
- Complies with all administrative policies and procedures
- Promotes self-development and learning with staff
- Demonstrates responsibility in utilization of financial resources
- Demonstrates ability to manage various responsibilities
- Demonstrates skills and abilities in employee relations
- Performs with knowledge of effective communication practices
- Demonstrates knowledge of Continuous PI (Performance Improvement) and survey process
- Demonstrates basic computer ability
- Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills
- Ensures staff provides quality safe care according to current standards of practice for administration of procedures/treatments/medications
- Ensures staff provides effective patient/family teaching
- Ensures staff documents according to entity/dept. guidelines
- Addresses age-specific needs of infants, toddlers, school age, adolescents, adults, older adults
- Coordinates and controls the daily Surgery Center schedule
- Performs direct patient care as needed
- Directs and supervises the OR Suites
- Perform other work-related duties as needed
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers
- Challenges current working practices identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- (Preferred) – A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of three years of RN experience
- (BLS) – Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 30 days of position start, offered within)
- (ACLS) – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (obtain within 30 days of position start, offered within)
- Must attain Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification within 30 months
