Our OEM Client based in Whitley, Coventry, is searching for a Logistics Operations Specialist (Prototype Build) to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position until 31st March 2026.
Umbrella Pay Rate: GBP27.03 per hour.
The PVO team, in which the Engineering Parts Logistics team are based, is a critical area within Product Engineering (PE) with an important role in the creation of prototype vehicles.
Working under the Product Engineering Operations (PEO) function, they are directly responsible for all our automotive client\’s prototype vehicle build preparation. They often serve as a key interface between Vehicle Programme, Vehicle Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. PVO works to create strategies for successful prototype builds and is currently expanding its product portfolio.
Main responsibilities of this role include:
- Supporting pre-production builds by obtaining and maintaining delivery promises from external suppliers.
- Ensuring delivery promises meet build requirements and escalating issues when necessary.
- Owning parts from dispatch to receipt in storage locations and building supplier relationships to ensure all NRP (Non-Released Parts) are delivered on time.
- Entering all delivery promises within 1 week of receipt.
- Achieving 87% receipt of parts for the first car of each schedule by MRD (More Great Products Faster).
- Ensuring zero build stoppages and zero POF (Point of Fit) losses for all prototype builds involving NRP.
- Ensuring all shipping collections for NRP are on time using the most cost-efficient transport modes.
- Negotiating delivery dates with suppliers to support multiple prototype production builds for new products and battery production.
- Supporting engineering export of materials to suppliers to align with prototype build requirements.
- Negotiating production slots with internal Tool Rooms and 3D printing operations in line with prototype build needs.
- Visiting key suppliers to review delivery performance and identify opportunities for improvement, aligning with Customer Love principles.
- Understanding and adopting the client\’s Agile philosophies and addressing obstacles to on-time supply from the supply base.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Working towards objectives on the departmental scorecard.
- Collaborating with PE teams to ensure successful build events.
- Supporting relevant prototype build activities.
- Chairing supplier meetings to review part supply status and resolve issues.
- Performing any other duties as directed by the line manager related to this role.
Educational requirements:
- GCSE qualification or higher.
