Job Summary/Purpose
Manages the development and delivery of a capital project or program to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Works directly with Construction Manager to ensure project is delivered with cost and schedule certainty. Manages risks and risk management issues to ensure risks are identified and mitigated. Works directly with Project Controls to ensure alignment with Stage Gate / Stage Gate Lite Processes and to ensure that proper project controls are being implemented. Provides direct management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with contractor representatives to achieve capital project objectives.
Responsibilities
- Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.
- Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works with the appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team. Prepares contracts and approves requisitions/change orders/invoices. Fulfills role of \βContract Manager\β or as Owner\βs representative as otherwise defined in the project contracts. Issues formal correspondence to Contractors.
- Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate / Stage Gate Lite Processes and coordinates activities to meet the requirements of Entergy\βs SGP / SGP-L and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.). Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk by identifying and mitigating risks.
- Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority of capability of the Senior Manager to resolve.
- Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve project budget and timeline. Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required
- Bachelor\βs degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the utility industry with experience in major capital project planning, execution, and control.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience.

- Engaged leader with a history of successfully delivering capital projects/portfolios. Solid understanding of project management fundamentals and stage-gate processes focused on delivering T&D projects with cost, schedule and scope certainty. Experienced in risk and contingency management. Skilled at leading and influencing across organizations, partnering with contract firms, negotiation, obtaining stakeholder input and support, driving continuous improvement ideas, improving organizational health, transforming organizations and improving customer centricity. Able to build, motivate and inspire effective teams and leverage team diversity. Significant ability to build partnerships with internal customers, key stakeholders, and contractors. Skilled at managing conflict, providing clear direction/role clarity and developing employees. Able to build productive relationships across the organization and with external parties. Demonstrated ability to lead teams to effectively achieve desired results and lead in a matrixed environment. Understanding of regulatory environments.
