To join a dynamic, forward-thinking bid team, focusing on Manufacturing New Business (Design & Manufacture Phase) bid generation on behalf of Manufacturing Programmes.

Salary: Circa £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Bolton 1-2 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The opportunity:

Following the recent growth in our Manufacturing Bid team we are looking for a Manufacturing Bid Lead to join us.

The main areas of expertise required are working with multiple data sources, interpreting Bid Directives, data analytics and applying various types of methodology to generate a cost base and a Bid for presentation to the Senior Management Team for approval. You will have experience in generating a manufacturing cost base or similar is desirable; presentation skills are required, along with resilience and ability to manage multiple bids at once.

As the team has grown in recent years, we have evolved the process behind how we generate a cost base, introduced new methodologies and improved how we populate a bid, ensuring each bid is auditable, with tangible source data and as such welcome fresh ideas and continuous improvement to strive forward in bidding excellence.

The position has become available due to a significant increase in both D & M-Phase Bidding activity, with the need to grow the team further and support the New Business Bid Manager and team in the generation of Complex bids on Major Programmes and Variants

What we\’re looking for from you:

  • Experience working on complex bids with a proven record of accomplishment in the generation of costed proposals/manufacturing bids.
  • Commercially astute as working with cost models to generate costings for direct/in directs, materials and other costs associated with manufacturing of products
  • Experience in the defence industry, particularly working on bids in Concept/Development phase through to Manufacturing phase would be advantageous
  • Enthusiastic, pro-active and tenacious individual who can prioritise and understand strategic business needs as well as managing the day-to-day tactical decisions and supporting in leading the bid team
  • Provide Governance of cost models and bid inputs, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures, promoting a culture of best practice and proactive management of cost models
