Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated Electrician to join an Estates Maintenance Team responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment at property’s owned and maintained by Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Trust. The role requires the post holder to act as a Competent Person (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum 06-02. As part of the role, the post holder must be flexible and work as part of a diverse maintenance team while possessing a wide-ranging knowledge of electrical systems (including LV distribution, technical drawings, problem solving, testing and inspection etc). The role also requires participation in the on‑call rota. Shortlisting for this vacancy will be completed by 07/01/2026, with proposed interview dates on 15/01/2026 and 16/01/2026.
Main Duties
All applicants must have access to transport for work purposes as travel is essential around the various properties the Trust is responsible for. They must also exercise initiative to problem‑solve issues presented safely, ensuring areas continue to operate and provide assurance to stakeholders. Successful applicants must be trained to City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Craft Certificate or equivalent qualification (e.g. NVQ 3, BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or ONC/OND), and must have completed a recognised Electrical apprenticeship demonstrating a high level of competence.
The salary for this role is at Agenda for Change Band 4. The RRP payment is an additional £6,040.95 per annum. On‑call payment is £21.92 per occasion with a minimum 1.5 hours payment per call‑out. All other associated on‑call time is paid at time‑and‑a‑half, including travel time. Enhanced bank holiday pay is provided for on‑call and time taken in lieu.

Person Specification
Essential
- Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship and provide evidence.
- Must hold City & Guilds craft certificates NVQ3 or equivalent.
- Full competency in 18th Edition wiring regulations.
- Experience with complex systems in healthcare environments.
- Multi‑skilled approach and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Ability to undertake work on the types of systems and plant for which the appointment is sought.
- Install new systems from drawings and specifications to meet all legalisation requirements.
- Maintenance and operation of building services, including low‑voltage, mechanical plant, air‑handling, fire alarm, security alarms, and emergency lighting systems.
Desirable
- BS7671:2018 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- C&G 2391 Inspection and Test Qualification.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- Maintenance of standby generators, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and nurse call systems.
- Production of Electrical Installation Certificates, EICRs & Minor Works Certificates.
- Significant post‑apprenticeship experience.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment.
