The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 £ per year.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Tackling Climate Change Team.

This role will be focussed on delivering the borough wide section of our Climate Strategy and Action Plan, by engaging with residents and businesses and helping them understand what they can do.

This role will also support the internal section of the Action Plan by regular communication with all the services areas within the council and help shape the Action Plan through meeting with Councillors and preparation of the annual Climate Change report., Full details of the role can be found in the attached job description. We are keen to support your training and personal development and which includes flexible working and home working., Whilst we welcome applications from existing climate change professionals, we are equally keen to encourage applications from people who may not have experience of working in a climate focussed role or hold relevant qualifications. We’d love it if you have experience in community engagement, and whilst relevant climate change experience and/or qualifications would be beneficial, the important thing is that you have a passion to help people make the town the best it can be., What we are looking for is someone with a passion for community engagement, both with residents and businesses. You will be someone who wants to become involved in the shaping of our town in a sustainable way, enabling growth whilst protecting the natural environment and quality of life for residents.

You will be able to understand a range of climate reductions measures, as well as funding sources and grant applications. You’ll have the ability to work under your own initiative and project manage your work to meet Council and Government targets. You will be able to work in a small team as well as on your own.

You’ll have a basic understanding of the effects of climate change on both our borough and the wider area.

This job is suited to someone:

  • with existing experience as a Climate Change Officer, or

  • who has worked in a climate focussed role either in the public or private sector, or

  • who has work in a community focussed role either in the public or private sector and would like to specialise in climate change.

You’ll have excellent communication and customer-care skills, the ability to work flexibly, as part of a busy and high performing team.
