Strategic Sourcing Lead
Mediq UK are a supplier of healthcare consumables, healthcare equipment, cleaning, and hygiene products, as well as healthcare devices to hospitals, care homes, and other facilities serving the healthcare sector in the UK.

We are recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Lead to join our team In the UK to serve as the primary point of contact for the Mediq Business in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You will work closely with the sales team based in Larne, Northern Ireland to identify own brand and distributor opportunities within the region.
This role will be split across three distinct core areas:
Pharmaceutical Strategic Sourcing Lead
- Lead sourcing efforts within the pharmaceutical business, focusing on identifying growth opportunities and developing strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Analyse market trends, supply chain risks, and opportunities to create a competitive advantage for the business.
- Develop and manage supplier relationships, ensuring high standards in procurement, pricing, and terms.
- Lead negotiations and ensure strategic alignment with business objectives and market demands.
Import Strategic Sourcing Lead (Cross-Border Trading)
- Oversee the sourcing and procurement of goods from international suppliers, coordinating with the supply chain and sales teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Identify and onboard reliable suppliers, managing contracts and negotiating pricing and terms to maximize cost savings and efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with international vendors, ensuring compliance with trade regulations and quality standards.
- Utilize exceptional analytical skills to assess market conditions and develop sourcing strategies that optimize the supply chain.
Mediq Business Contact for Northern Ireland & Republic of Ireland
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Mediq Business in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, supporting both sales and sales support teams.
- Work closely with the sales team based in Larne, Northern Ireland, to identify own brand and distributor opportunities within the region.
- Leverage Mediq UK and Group supplier relationships to extend geographic support in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Contribute to the success of the tender pipeline and the growth of own brand products in these key markets.
- Strategy Development: Working alongside the commercial leadership, take the lead for the annual strategy development process. Ensuring the local UK strategy aligns to that of the Group.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor\’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with sourcing practices in specific industries (e.g., medical, Pharma)
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in using sourcing and procurement software and tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
