To complete post graduate training in Medical Ultrasound to support Ultrasound services for both booked outpatients and Inpatients / ED

Work under supervision from qualified sonographers and Radiologists to learn to effectively perform ultrasound examinations to a high standard

Learn to provide free text reports to support ultrasound findings

Take responsibility for the academic demands of the post graduate course with clinical aspects of the role

Participate in regular feedback with sonographers and / or a named clinical mentor to address any issues and put support in place where needed

Actively engage with CPD and be proactive and responsible for self-directed learning

Develop proficient IT skills in relation to Radiology Information Systems and patient data management, welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the Ultrasound department to recruit a Trainee Sonographer, to be supported in undertaking an accredited post graduate training programme in Medical Ultrasound. The successful applicant will undertake a Post Graduate Certificate (PG Cert) in Medical Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology . Ultrasound training roles involve working across all UHBW sites, although the trainee will have a base site at St Michaels Hospital.
The successful applicant will be expected to have a good honours degree in a relevant health care subject from a recognised institution of higher education, so as to meet the entrance requirements for post-graduate education, and at least one year of experience working as a healthcare professional within an NHS setting.
The applicant should also be able to demonstrate experience working in, and knowledge of, NHS standards and practices, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to CPD in a relevant healthcare setting.
