EDTAs’ will work under the direct supervision of RNs as part of the multidisciplinary departmental team undertaking duties in relation to direct fundamental patient care and a full range of support functions that may include clerical duties.

EDTAs’ will deliver delegated, supervised work as assigned by RN as appropriate, ensure that there is continual feedback to the Registered nurse about the patient’s condition.

EDTAs’ will contribute to the delivery of quality patient care to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients maintaining privacy and dignity at all times

Main duties of the job

Assist with the maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment, * Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development

  • Widening access (anchor institution) and employability

  • Improving the experience of staff with disability

  • Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development

  • Making equalities mainstream, * To demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development through performance review, clinical supervision and continuing education.

  • To complete mandatory training, as determined by the Trust.

  • To personally adhere to all Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Policies and Procedures.

  • To be able to use department level IT packages.

  • May be exposed to violence and aggression from patients, carers or visitors

  • Will be required to support patients who require enhanced care levels, perhaps due to confusion or risk of falling

  • Will be exposed to bereavement and bereaved carers, and may be required to support them emotionally

  • Will be frequently required to move and handle patients as per departmental needs

  • Role is generally predictable, but require all EDTA to respond to unexpected clinical situations frequently.

  • Literacy and numeracy to secondary school standard or above

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health Care or equivalent experience

  • Phlebotomy

  • Cannulation

  • Plaster of Paris application competency

  • Catheterisation competency

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 1 year working in an acute hospital setting

  • IT Literate with clear communication and documentation skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an Emergency Department

Knowledge

Essential

  • Be able to carry out ECG recordings.
