Speech and Language Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Lambeth)

Location : Lambeth, South London

Contract : Full-time | Term-time only

The Role

  • Work alongside class teachers and the school’s Speech and Language Therapist to deliver tailored interventions and communication programmes.
  • Support children individually and in small groups to develop their expressive and receptive language skills.
  • Use visual supports, signing (such as Makaton or BSL), and structured communication tools to aid understanding.
  • Track and record progress, celebrating small wins and encouraging children’s confidence in speaking and listening.

About You

  • Experience supporting children with speech, language, or communication needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A degree or background in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech and Language Therapy, or Education would be an advantage.
  • >Enthusiastic, patient, and empathetic with strong communication skills.

  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
